Asbestos Training Providers in South Australia, Australia
Organisations delivering asbestos awareness and licensing training.
In South Australia, licensing and training rules for asbestos work are set by SafeWork SA. Workers carrying out removal for a licence holder must hold the unit for the type of work: CPCCDE3014 Remove non-friable asbestos (Class B) or CPCCDE3015 Remove friable asbestos (Class A). Supervisors also need the Supervise asbestos removal unit.
Employers must also train workers who may do asbestos-related work in identifying asbestos and handling it safely, and keep training records for five years after the worker leaves.
SafeWork SA licenses asbestos assessors. The CPCCDE5001 unit, Conduct air monitoring and clearance inspections for asbestos removal work, is a recognised training route to an assessor licence under the WHS Regulations.
For people who only need to recognise asbestos, the nationally accredited 11084NAT Course in Asbestos Awareness covers identifying asbestos materials and reporting them.
Asbestos has been banned across Australia since 31 December 2003, so buildings in South Australia built or renovated before then may still contain it.
Check that a provider is a registered training organisation (RTO) and can issue the exact unit your licence or job requires.
