In Tasmania, licensing and training rules for asbestos work are set by WorkSafe Tasmania. Workers carrying out removal for a licence holder must hold the unit for the type of work: CPCCDE3014 Remove non-friable asbestos (Class B) or CPCCDE3015 Remove friable asbestos (Class A). Supervisors also need the Supervise asbestos removal unit.

Employers must also train workers who may do asbestos-related work in identifying asbestos and handling it safely, and keep training records for five years after the worker leaves.
