Asbestos Waste Disposal Facilities in Australia
Last updated June 2026Asbestos waste can only go to facilities that are licensed to take it. The exact rules vary by state and territory, but in general the waste has to be double-wrapped in heavy-duty polyethylene (at least 0.2mm thick), clearly labelled, and carried by a licensed waste transporter. Dumping it illegally carries heavy penalties.
This page lists licensed disposal facilities that accept asbestos-containing materials across Australia, organised by state. It covers both friable and non-friable waste, so removalists, demolition crews, and owners can find the nearest authorised drop-off.

Methodology
These disposal facilities come from the Asbestos List directory and are checked before they go live. The list and its state breakdown refresh automatically as new sites are approved.
What each site accepts is as reported at the time of listing. Acceptance terms change, so confirm current conditions with the facility, and with your state or territory regulator, before you haul waste there.
