How we check licences
Some listings show a badge such as “Class B licence current, checked 25 Oct 2026”. It means we found the business on its regulator's public licence register, the licence was current, and the date is when we last checked.
How the check works
Every month we look up each listing on the public register kept by the work health and safety regulator for its state, territory or country. We record whether a current licence was found, its class, and the date of the check.
The badge names the licence class (for example Class A or Class B) when the register publishes it. Some registers don't show the class, so those listings read “Asbestos removal licence current” instead.
When there is no badge
A listing has no licence badge when:
- it hasn't been checked in the last 60 days, so we don't show a date that may be out of date
- we couldn't find a matching licence on the register, or the register isn't public (Victoria, for example, has no public register of asbestos assessors)
- the same licence number appears on listings for different companies, until we've confirmed which one holds it
- the business offers a service that doesn't need a licence, such as training or waste disposal
No badge does not mean a business is unlicensed. It means we haven't been able to confirm a current licence ourselves.

Check it yourself
Before work starts, ask the business for its licence number and look it up on the regulator's register. Make sure the licence class covers the job: see Class A vs Class B licences and the state licensing reference.
If a licence badge looks wrong, use Report incorrect information on the listing and we'll recheck it.
